To: Our Subscribers and Supporters Subj: Why have a "theinteriordesigner.com" web site? From: John W.(Bill) Rhinesmith, Founder Why have this web site? Well.. that´s a fair question. First, like you, we wanted to make a living doing what we love to do. In our case, designing and constructing commercial Internet web sites for interesting businesses... your businesses in fact. On a broader scale though, we saw theinteriordesigner.com fulfilling a number of roles within the "decorator" community, their suppliers... and their target market. If you are a designer, there are certain things you are interested in. Expanding your client base, locating reliable sources of unique quality materials, and broadening your perspective of the living environment are probably high on your list of priorities. If you are a supplier of materials to the designer community, your priorities probably run along similar lines. You want additional customers, you want ideas about new and/or complementary products for your product line, and you too, we assume, want to continually broaden your perspective on how your product line can fit into various types of living environments in a graceful, elegant, stunning.. (etc., etc.) manner. We are almost all homeowners, of course, but if you are a home or business owner in the process of upgrading your living environment... then you may be looking for answers and suggestions to help give focus to your thoughts on how you would like your house (or business, or yard, or.. ) to appear. All of us have something in common then... we need each other! In a nutshell, that is why "theinteriordesigner.com". We are creating an area, a "environmental design zone" if you will, that provides the on-line resources to help each group (designer/decorator, supplier and client) achieve their priorities more effectively. First ... We want you to be aware of each other... thus we´ve provided a registration database with a number of levels of visibility. Each of these levels, we feel, is priced reasonably enough so that the smallest business can still afford one of the "higher end" listings. In spite of this, we´ve put options in place that let you "test the water" until you are satisfied with the results you are getting. Since designing is creativity and creativity is so often the exchange and mixing of various thoughts, concepts and abstractions... we´ve created an "Expo" zone. We´ve done this so you can, at your option, expose yourselves to a broader range of products and materials and, as is so often the case, the creative ideas and personalities which come with them. We are also creating a community bulletin board and library... where we hope to bring you timely articles and stories relating to designing and decorating structures and the areas around them. Did I say WE? My error. We are web site designers. YOU are the experts in the interior/exterior design community. It is you who will be providing the content for the bulletin board and library. This could be almost anything... although we will be setting up platforms for certain topics (makeovers, on a budget, color compromises, etc.), you will be populating them with your expert content. This will be fun. It´s a chance to `put your name in lights´ (we´ll publish with full bio, contact info and portrait, if desired) and gain the recognition you deserve for the expertise you´ve exhibited in your particular topic area. This is the part I´m looking forward to the most. Feedback and input from our community. Other things we plan to bring you include an industry calendar of upcoming events, showcase sections for both decorators and suppliers, and open discussion forums (we call them "newsgroups" in the Internet community) for you to air your ideas, opinions and gripes. In addition to the above... we´ll be bringing what you want us to bring to you. And that will come from your ongoing suggestions, observations, and (constructive, we hope) criticisms of this site. Oh! One other thing we´ll be doing. We will be promoting the daylights out of this site (feel free to spread the word around, though). Our fully mature business model calls for us to spend 50 cents out of every revenue dollar on promoting this site. For a hint of what we have planned, check out the "How did you hear about us" options on the Registration forms. We´re off and running. In the right direction I hope.
